Post #9: Just Another Day on the Job

Hey there Readers!
Alright, so personally, I have no idea what kind of career path I want to take. So today, with the help of Google, I explored my options.
I'm sure you all understand the ways of the internet quite well. You know, those times when you start by searching up "homemade face mask recipe", and 20 minutes later you're reading an article about Lindsay Lohan or watching silly cat videos.
So today I stumbled upon some "Odd Jobs" that made me laugh. One of them, which I found particularily strange, was a job titled Dog Sniffer.

"What on earth do Dog Sniffers do?" you wonder. Well, let me tell you! They aren't the dogs that sniff around for the scent of illegal drugs. No, Dog Sniffers are people. Once a week, they analyze the odor of dog's breath to test the effect of their diet on their teeth. That's right, to "analyze", dog sniffers must smell the breath of the dogs. Their doggie breath is evaluated on a scale of 0 to 10 and is categorized under sweaty, salty, musty, fungal or decaying.

"Would you ever be a Dog Sniffer?" you question. Well, my answer is simple. NO WAY! I've always thought that dog breath was one of the worst smells. It's cute when my puppy licks my face, but I've got to be honest; I can't handle the warm feeling of stinky breath of my face. I think that to apply for this odd job, you need a strong stomach. Or maybe if you just don't mind smelly smells... being a Dog Sniffer could even be your dream job!

Inspiration can come from anywhere, right? Anywhere, and anyone.
My grandma was someone I admired. I still do see her as my hero. Every time in school, when we'd be asked to write about our hero, I wouldn't have to think too hard because my grandma has constantly been an amazing role model for me.
"Julie Tyacke", "Mom", "Grandma". These were who she was to others. But she was more than just a name. She was the most caring person that you'd ever meet. At Christmas, even though she didn't have a lot of money for herself, she'd insist on giving tons of presents to everyone in the family. No matter what day it was, she was always up for a visit. That's another great thing about her. She was easy to talk to! I loved listening to her stories about her earlier life, and now all I want to do is to go back in time, just for a little while, to talk to her one more time. To make perogies with her and my mom. To spend one last Christmas together.
Last January, my Grandma passed away. It hits me every time. I know I shouldn't be sad, though. I guess I just miss her. You see, I know she's in a better place and isn't hurting anymore. If I could have any wish in the whole wide world, it would be to make cancer dissapear.
My grandma had cancer in her throat a few years back, and fought through it. She survived. She was cancer-free after several chemo & radiation treatments. But cancer wasn't done with her yet, since in about October of last year, she got really weak. At first her symptoms were brushed off; the doctor thought nothing of her fatigue and pain. But after a little while, she was diagnosed with Leukemia.
She fought long and hard. For months she layed in her hospital bed, fighting for her life. Sadly her body was much too weak to handle all of the treatments. But she was strong nonetheless, and I think that's what I love most about her.
If I ever am troubled, and feel weighed down, I think of how strong and brave my grandma was and suddenly I'm okay. Because, I think to myself, if she can hold on through months and months of pain and treatment and not being able to leave the walls of he hospital room, then I can get through life.
There's no doubt in my mind that my grandma was, is, and always will be someone who I admire; my hero. I love her and will always stay strong for her.

Post #7: A trip to Scotland

If you're super rich and feel like a getaway to somewhere beautiful sounds like just the right plan, then this post is for you!

You may not know this, but my dad grew up in Scotland. And if you're a random stranger from Argentina, then I REALLY hope you didn't know that. You creep.
:) In all seriousness though, I'm telling the truth when I say that the majority of my extended family lives in this breath-taking highland country. I've been there only twice in my life, with my parents and brothers. It's by far my most favorite place in the world.

This beautiful castle is called the Edinburgh castle. I'm lucky enough to have been there! It's absolutely huge. And gorgeously medieval.
This is the Cathedral of Glasgow. I know I would never complain about going to church on Sunday if I got to admire the beauty of it throughout mass!
I'm sure you've heard of the Loch Ness monster, The mystical sea creature that lurks within the waters of the loch ness lake.
The lake in the picture above is of the mysterious Loch NessLake.
What you see here is the Eilean Donan castle. It is one of the most photographed castles of the world. Looking at this picture, I figure I know why.

The Loch Ness monster, also known as, "Nessie", is one of many creatures that you either believe in or you don't (such as leprechauns and Bigfoot). Personally? I think it's possible that Nessie exists. I've actually driven past the lake in which the creature is rumored to live in. Sadly, I didn't see any suspicious movement. But there are several sightings that have been reported by people of all sorts. I'm posting just one video of hundreds, thousands maybe, that suggest there really IS something like a sea monster within the waters. Of course, there's always the fact that the video could be a hoax, or that the thing swimming is actually just a whale or a turtle. But hey! It's fun to let your imagination run wild.

Now, obviously a trip to Europe (assuming you live in Saskatchewan) includes a LOT of traveling hours. I'm going to plan a 2-person, first-class flight, 3-week trip to Scotland. If you've got the cash, this just might work out perfectly for you.
I suggest first driving out to the Calgary airport in Alberta. The flight costs from there to Glasgow (the Capitol of Scotland) are as follows:

 ***
To Glasgow: Saturday, February 2nd, 2013
Departs: 3:35PM Feb 2 from Calgary, AB / Arrives: 8:30AM Feb 3 in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Flight is 8 hours 55 minutes)
*55 minute layover*
Departs: 9:25AM Feb 3 from Amsterdam, Netherlands / Arrives: 9:55AM Feb 3 in Glasgow, Scotland (Flight is 1 hour 30 minutes)
Price for 2 people, meal services, first class: $13,198.52

Returning to Calgary: Saturday, February 23rd, 2013
Departs: 6:00AM Feb 23 from Glasgow / Arrives: 8:45AM Feb 23 in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Flight is 1 hour 45 minutes)
*3 hour 40 minute layover*
Departs: 12:25PM Feb 23 from Amsterdam, Netherlands / Arrives: 1:45PM Feb 23 in Calgary, AB (Flight is 9 hours 20 minutes)
Price for 2 people, meal services, first class: £4,753.20 (notice this is in UK currency)

 ***
"What do I do while in Scotland?" you say. "There are SO many things you can do!" I reply. "Spend a few days in the capitol of the country, Glasgow. Visit some churches, some cathedrals, or even some graveyards. Okay, now for the rest of your 3-week trip... Explore! Scotland is actually quite tiny. With the amount of days you've got, you can easily visit so many places. Go to the ocean, take of your shoes and socks, and discover some beautiful shells. Visit some zoos or some museums (museums are great there since there's so much history!). Of course you can't go to Scotland without driving by the Loch Ness lake. I can't even tell you all of the things you can do! That's the beauty of trips to places you've never been to. Plans are great. But sometimes, exploring, taking your time, and relaxing are the best things to do!"

Fly over to Scotland. Once you're there, just see what appeals to you. Let the wind take you... In the literal sense; travel via sailboat or go hang-gliding! Or in the theoretical sense; take it day by day. Do what you like!

I hope that this post inspires you to go somewhere beautiful, whether it be halfway around the world or a walk in the nearest park; inspiration can come from anywhere.

MAKE SOME MEMORIES. TRAVEL.

Post #6: When You Want To Have Fun and You're Poor (Story Of My Life)

Hey, Readers! This post is for us. The poor ones. The ones who just can't save money. The financially challenged ones.
I've made up a list of 20 things to do on a limited budget. Okay, actually I'm making it up as I go along. You should know me by now, I'm not THAT prepared. I like the term spontaneous. Spontaneous and poor.

1. Call your friends using a cell phone and say nothing. Only play "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" until they hang up or begin singing along.
2. Comment on my blog.
3. If you have a Wii, play Mario Kart on that Wii and try your hardest not to swear.
4. If you have a dog, wrestle with it. All right, if it's littler than you don't jump on top of it. Settle down. Just push it over and it will try to bite off your arm. SUPER fun.
5. Make a list of things to do on a limited budget. It's harder than it seems.
6. Tweet pictures back and forth with your favorite Twitter friend.
7. If you don't have Twitter, sign up for it. It's addictive and you can stalk your favorite celebrities.
8. Then follow me.
9. Try to do a cartwheel.
10. Fail miserably.
11. See how many junior beef & cheddar's from Arby's that you can eat. Seriously, they're so cute, how could you not?! It's okay if you're poor, they're really cheap if you have the coupon. Or make your mom buy theme though. #poorpeopleproblems
12. Watch the first season of Pokémon. It has an amazing story line and makes you "Want to be the very best, like no one every was,"
13. Youtube the Pokémon theme song. You'll understand my reference. Also it's my most favorite song. :)
14. Check out my friend Bernie's blog: www.keylime5.blogspot.com  It's about pies. 'Nuff said.
15. Make a music video with you and your other poor friends.
16. Don't have friends? I won't judge. Make a video of yourself singing along to Call Me Maybe, with your dog that now may hate you after your wrestle.
17. Turn on the radio or the Hit List channel on your TV and dance around in your living room till you either a. break a sweat, b. your neighbours see you and judge you, or c. your parents tell you to stop or else you're grounded.
18. Post a Youtube video that'll guarantee a million views
19. Go into a huge store* like Wal-Mart and pick someone who looks interesting. Now channel your inner top-secret-ninja-spy and follow them around. Don't let them see you! No matter what the cost. *Don't go into a small store such as the dollar store. People WILL notice you and it will get REAL awkward REAL fast. Restaurants don't work either.
20. Do these all IN ONE DAY!

Okay. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of hugs. I find them awkward; where do you put your arms? Which side will you be turning your head to? How long will you hold the said hug? Regardless of my disliking of hugs, I saw this video and felt like hugging a million people. The only one around was my dog, though. Long story short, I found out she doesn't really like hugs. Especially when she's in the middle of sleeping, which I completely understand. But you see, the nice fellow in this video did not walk up to sleeping strangers. Juan Mann went out in public, and offered a little love to anyone who needded it. He wanted to accomplish something, and didn't let ANYTHING stop him. This clip was sure inspiring for me, and although anything can inspire you and different things inspire different people... this has just GOT to make you smile. The following quote is from the description below the YouTube video, which now has accumulated over 73 million views within 6 years: "In this age of social-disconnection where mostly all of us lack that simple human touch from another, the effects of the Free Hugs Campaign are being felt around the globe. As this simple gesture of kindness and hope spreads across the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs Campaign BANNED. What we then witnessed was the true spirit of humanity as people came together in what can only be described as something awe inspiring,"

*Reach the sky, with all you've got, you have the power, whether you know it or not*

Take pictures. They capture inexplicable moments and memories.

I took last this picture at Candle Lake, where a lot of crazy-fun memories were born.
I was sitting in a lawn chair with my mom, reading a One Direction magazine of course, when I realized how pretty the outdoors can be. My favorite thing about summer is the beauty of nature; I honestly would be entertained for hours, just watching the waves move across the lake. I only had my i-Pod with me, so I decided that would have to do if I wanted to take pictures. So I snapped photos of the glimmering sun on the lake, the nearly cloudless sky, and of my fingers embedded in the sand of the lake. I was splashing water around my feet when I was lucky enough to catch this shot.
Thanks to a little editing on Instagram, I'll never forget that day. :)

Internet Popular. Cyber Superstar. Twitter Fame.

These words are the last words that flash before my eyes before I fall asleep.
Just kidding, but the idea of a thousand followers on Twitter is something I'd like to achieve in my life. If you look a bit to the left, you'll see a countdown to that very day. It's true, I gave myself over 2 years. I'm not THAT ambitious.
But goals are good things, readers. I don't exactly know what I'm going to do with my life, but I still like to look forward to things, and to set goals for myself.
So I'm going to tweet funny things, happy things, and sad things. I'm promising you that I'll follow all the right people. I'LL ACHIEVE MY DREAM.
AND YOU SHOULD TOO!
So make a goal. Whether it's to not fail any classes this year or to try every kind of Booster Juice... Tell yourself what you want to do, And Achieve It.
And if I can't inspire you with my story of Twitter Fame, here's a beautiful quote from Jim Rohn-

“Goals. There's no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There's no telling what you can do when you believe in them. There's no telling what will happen when you act upon them.”

Post #2: A Little About Me

Hey, Readers :)
So I'm sitting here wondering, "Hmm, what will be for supper tonight?". I also wonder what makes hyenas laugh so hard. Lastly, I wonder, "Do I have any fans yet? Any lonely people out there who long for my next blog post?"
Honestly, I doubt it. But one can always hope!
You see, I've always wanted to be internet famous. Don't laugh. That's what I want to be when I grow up, okay? To have 1 million views on Youtube, 200 blog page views a day, or 1k followers on Twitter... Yes. That's what I look forward to. The day I'm internet famous. That, and Christmas.
So a little about me...Well. *takes a deep breath*
I like bacon, sushi... and okay, let's face it- I love all food. I have a weird obsession for spelling & grammar even though sometimes I'm awful at both. I love singing, and can play piano although I usually don't. I leave my homework to the last minute ALL THE TIME but somehow it's never handed in late. I guess you could say I work well under pressure,
like how I'm trying to spurt out everything I can about me before the bell rings for this I.P class to be over. I'm pretty horrible at texting back within half an hour, and I'd probably get more sleep at night if I didn't have an I-Pod. Sometimes I think I'm addicted to Twitter. I love english class. I try to thank God everyday for all I have. Jesus is ma brother yo. Sometimes I try to talk all gangster and mostly it doesn't work out. I really love old people, and babies. I feel bad for my wonderful I.P teacher because if she has to read these long posts, it may be a liiiiittle time-consuming. :) I like all genres of music, from pop to country, to 50's and 60's music, to Rock and roll, to hip hop/rap, to generally sad songs. I swim a lot, and do other activities that I'm too lazy to type out. Yes, that's it. I have enough energy to do tons of stuff outside of school but when it comes to other things I get lazy. I like Marianas Trench, Maroon 5 (especially their older music), Beyoncé, Bon Iver, Taylor Swift, The Beatles, Janis Joplin, One Direction, Elvis Presley, and many other artists. I'm willing to bet that I know more about Pokémon than the average girl my age, and if you don't know what Pokémon is.... Well then there's the door.

I should have titled this post "A Lot About Me". There's much more I could say, and like I may have already mentioned, I have a bad habit of rambling on. And procastinating. Because right now, I should actually be doing math homework.
So wether you actually read that whole post, or you scrolled to the end, thanks for reading. <3

P.s if you're waiting to be inspired, trust me, I'll get there. c:

Here we go guys.  My very first blog post. I feel like I should be reading outloud as I type but then maybe that's weird. I also feel like Julie Powell from the movie Julie & Julia. Have you ever seen that movie? If not, talk about awkward. I mean, how am I supposed to know what kind of movies you watch? I don't even know who you are! Which brings me to my next point. Why are you reading this blog? Maybe you saw the title of this blog "Inspired", and you thought to yourself, "Golly Gee Wilikers. I sure could use some inspiration in my life,"... Well if you say Golly Gee Wilikers then you can just get out of here. Go join eHarmony, because to be honest you're not going to have much luck finding someone who appreciates your way of speaking. But you did come to the right place! So maybe I can help you with your weird ways of speach :)
You see, I thought and thought about what sort of blog I wanted to create. I sat there for like, half an hour pondering a possible theme. It hit me like a punch to the face. This voice inside my head, which I believe to have been my subconscious, told me, "I'm hungry." And it also told me, "If you want many people to read your blog, you must have something for everyone. You shall please the nation with posts of music, stories, jokes, lyrics, pictures, videos, quotes, rants, dreams, art, and the sort. You will be... A Superstar." (Echo: star, star, star....)
So I'll try my very best to inspire you, my readers. Awh, that's kind of cute actually. I'll call you mysterious blog-stalkers my Readers.
Maybe I'll post something every day, or maybe once a week. Of this, I'm not too sure yet. Although this post has been long, and some of it irrelivant to the theme of this blog, it will get better.
I hope. c:
I leave you with this quote by Muhammad Ali,
"I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'"
Peace, Readers. ☮
